Session Outline

Welcome & Icebreaker: “Community Builders” (20 min)

  • Children are given simple “building blocks” (paper, straws, or LEGO).

  • In groups, they build a “mini community” in 10 minutes.

  • Then, a twist: each group is told to break a few agreed rules (like taking other teams’ blocks).

  • Discussion:

    • How did it feel when others broke the rules?

    • What happens to a community when rules are ignored?

    • Why do we need laws and fairness?

Learning point: Laws exist to protect fairness, safety, and cooperation — not to limit fun or freedom.

Game: “Choices & Consequences” (30 min)

  • The facilitator presents everyday scenarios (school, friendship, online life).

  • Each team must decide what they would do and move to one of three signs: Right Choice, Wrong Choice, or Think Again.

  • After each round, a short talk explains real-life impacts (e.g., respect, trust, safety, legality).

Example Scenarios:

  • “Your friend asks you to take something from a shop without paying.”

  • “You find a lost phone on the street.”

  • “Someone posts something mean about you online.”

Learning point: Every choice has consequences — good or bad — and ethical decisions keep us and others safe.

Story Activity: “The Hero of Our Town” (45 min)

  • In groups, children create a short story or skit about a young person who faces a moral or legal challenge (e.g., bullying, peer pressure, honesty, helping others).

  • They act it out or draw it as a comic strip.

  • Group reflection: What made the hero’s decision the “bright path”?

Learning point: We can all be heroes in small everyday ways by doing what’s right.

Discussion Circle: “My Values, My Future” (30 min)

  • Each participant shares one value that is important to them (e.g., honesty, kindness, respect).

  • The group discusses how these values help create peaceful, safe communities.

  • The facilitator connects values to laws: “Respecting the law is one way of showing respect for others.”

Creative Closing Activity: “The Bright Path Promise” (20 min)

  • Each child decorates a “Bright Path” card with one promise for their future (e.g., “I will be honest,” “I will stand up for what’s right,” “I will help my friends follow good choices”).

  • Cards can be displayed in the community centre or taken home.

🪴

Optional Add-Ons

  • Parent session: short talk on how to discuss values and laws at home.

  • Follow-up mentoring: monthly small group chats about real-life challenges.

  • Field trip: visit to a community centre, police outreach event, or youth court to see how laws work in everyday life.
